Candida Mobley founded Voices, Inc to empower, inform and inspire her community. As a veteran media personality, she built the company the goals of conveying valuable information to an urban audience often overlooked and unheard.
Candida’s career began at the Stevie Wonder-owned KJLH-FM radio station in Los Angeles where she pitched the idea for a show to help inform the listening audience about the importance of exercise. What began as a 20-minute pilot became a regular program, “Body Vision”, that broke listenership ratings for its timeslot and launched Candida’s career as a radio announcer and content creator.
Her concepts for how to reach and empower typically marginalized audiences became a highly profitable syndication tool merging public service announcements with corporate sponsored community bulletins. Candida’s “In the Know” promoted job fairs, health resources events, grant opportunities, and community programs. It became an overnight sensation.
Voices, Inc. evolved over the years from a radio production and syndication company into a full-service communications agency specializing in social marketing. The company provided market research, creative television, radio, print, and outdoor advertising; Public relations; private/public partnership development; and community outreach campaigns. Clients included U.S. Census Bureau, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health Services, US Environmental Protection Agency, McDonald’s, Taco Bell, and the U.S. Navy SEALs.
In addition to her professional endeavors, Candida is an active participant in community and business affairs, a motivational speaker, a voice for success of women and small business enterprises, an engaged mother, Vice Chair of the West Angeles Community Development Corporation, and a long-standing member of West Angeles Church of God in Christ.
After taking a hiatus to provide care for her now 99-year-old mother, Candida has transitioned Voices, Inc. to focus on community empowerment, resilience, and economic opportunity. She is currently leading the Community Resilience & Energy Security Test Bed (CREST) effort, an initiative in Ventura County to repurpose a Superfund Site for innovative sustainable energy technology research and development, environmental restoration, and job training.
